Anesthesia For Reversing Tied Tubes At Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center

A member of the Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Message Board asks other message board members whether it is possible to have spinal anesthesia rather than general anestheisa when reversing tied tubes. The member asks, “I have a fear of being put to sleep, or is that the only way to do it?” Other members respond with their experiences regarding anesthesia which make her feel better knowing that she is not the only one who has a fear of being put to sleep At Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center you will be asleep with “general” anesthesia for 60-90 minutes. A board certified anesthesiologist calls each patient pre-operatively to discuss medical history and any concerns patients may have and monitors patients while they are asleep. The method of general anesthesia used is safer than spinal or epidural anesthesia in the outpatient setting and is less likely to cause conplications requiring hospitalization. The anesthesia team work closely with Dr. Berger and Dr. Monteith to assure excellent pain control after patients awake from the tubal reversal procedure.
