Highest Pregnancy Rate after Reversing Tubal Ligation
Members of the Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center discuss pregnancy rates after reversing their tubal ligation. Most women prefer to become pregnant naturally versus the alternative of in-vitro fertilization (IVF). Tubal reversal performed by Dr. Berger and Dr. Monteith is simpler, less expensive and has higher pregnancy and birth rates than IVF. Reversal of tubal ring or clip procedures had the highest pregnancy rate (76%), followed by ligation/resection (69%) and coagulation (68%). Patients with fimbriectomy or unknown methods of tubal ligation had the lowest pregnancy rate (56%).
